A very bad front wheel jagger occurred whilst braking coming down the mountain. It was enough the break the front of the car. The effect was to release the adjustment on the o.s. brake 5 half turns. WE DISMANTLED the drums after a struggle, having no tools. The o.s. drum showed the jaggering. There was a carbon deposit burnt on the brake surface approx. six inches apart. It had to be scraped off. There was no damage to the brakes or mechanism. The anchorage of the shoes was on the slack side and the self-lubricating bearing in the inside plate was badly worn, making the toggle shaft very sloppy. The axle controls are a poor job. The spring loading is entirely wrong from the point of stopping jaggers or what we have complained of. The bearing surfaces are inadequate, the lugs are worse than previously.

There was no hole drilled for feeding lubrication to the bearings. We are very disappointed with the whole job. We have drilled a hole to take the lubrication, made the spring loading as solid as we can. We would sadly like to redesign the job and make it really useful. We cannot go on having these jaggers.

Both cars will be at Chateauroux on Tuesday.
