(17) We shall never be free from flexibility of mounting of the front axle or of the brake drum and other parts, so we must have a scheme of shoes which makes a smooth and consistent working brake.

(18) We believe all the present schemes of shoes - including our own - are not entirely satisfactory, and we can get some better, and it would be fatal for us to use the policy of following others, and we also feel there is room for something better, and we can do it, and help to maintain our good reputation.
