BENTLEY, BENTLEY 50 AND WRAITH GEARBOX.

We send herewith a print of PD.82 which shows the layshafts for overdrive and standard ratios.

This drawing cancels PD.67 and PD.68, prints of which were sent to you some time ago.

We think that the new arrangement will be found to be a considerable improvement as regards the helical teeth, and it appears to us that the Maag machine can probably be used.

The straight toothed gear is not as accessible as before, but can be ground with a 3" diameter wheel.

We shall be glad to know in due course whether the teeth can be satisfactorily ground, both as regards the helical teeth and as regards the straight teeth.

Small adjustments of angle and number of teeth that may be required to improve the grinding operation will probably not inconvenience us, but a decision that the shaft cannot be ground as a one piece unit will be important to us and we should naturally like to know about this as soon as possible.
