Testing a higher compression larger inlet valve cylinder head for Bentley performance.

We have now tested the higher compression larger inlet valve cylinder head to an 1sG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} design. It will be observed that this gives an appreciable gain in power. Now that we have overcome our piston troubles, it is probable that this power could be utilised without mechanical failure; we have actually run an engine giving this power output on an experimental car for about 7000 miles. Actually we are much more concerned about improving the sweet running of the saloon Bentley than we are in raising its performance. Should this cylinder head complete 1000 miles satisfactorily, however, it might be considered as a useful alternative for open cars. Ha/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
