To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x247? E.6/HP.3.7.34. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hinge Pin - Starting Handle Cover - Bentley. We should like to know if you would agree to alter the standard drawings in connection with the above to what we show on LeC 3904, in which a washer is shewn sweated on the end of the hinge pin instead of rivetting. Actually the Shops are already doing this on production. This modification overcomes a difficulty in connection with the rivetted type of pin becoming tight and also prevents damage to the finish.
