CONFIDENTIAL. 31st.January 1939. BY.16/N. Messrs.Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re: Painting of Wheel Discs. As we believe you are already aware we are developing new designs of wheel discs for both wire and steel wheels, with a view to reducing the cost to the customer of this now very expensive extra. To avoid an expensive design whereby the chromium portion of the disc is removed for painting, it has been necessary to investigate the possibilities of painting on a chromium finish, even if the latter is polished, it being practically impossible to end the polishing in a sharp edge. We have obtained the following information from a firm of great repute who have found a solution which is in use on production by Messrs.Talbot. For black finish they use one coat of heavy bodied spraying synthetic black No.K.19665, and for any other colours they use a primary coat of P.J.616 synthetic standard primer light grey colour No.W.13452. All of these paints are the products of Messrs.Pinchin & Johnson. It does not matter if the paint finishes on burnished or dull chromium. The paint will not chip provided it is terminated in a hollow and a metal mask is used causing a thick edge to the paint. Cont'd.... | ||
