Contd. -2- EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 2/T27.5.24. Immediately on seeing Mr. Elliott's note we had written and instructed Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} to order two more negative rotation Scintilla AM-6-A magnetos for EAC.2. and I do not think it should be long before we get these. We propose to dismantle one and examine the mechanism of the advance. At the same time we are asking for the necessary prints and particulars of dimensions which we will duly send on to E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} It will be sometime before we can finally fix our specification, because we have not suitable machines on which to make tests to this end, and we are distinctly stating that the form of the specification at the moment is only preliminary and tentative. I take it from your note it is desired that Mr. Hancock should remove the Scintilla magneto which we at present have on 93-NK, and put it on the EAC. test engine for the purpose of the advance test. This would be better than using a large AG-6-A machine because (at any rate at the time of our tests) the low speed sparking characteristics of this new AM-6-A machine were actually somewhat better than those of the larger machine. Therefore I will arrange the with Mr. Hancock to do this. Contd. | ||
