(2) CWB4/GM/1.1.27. actual depth of the tank had been reduced by only 1/4". At the same time it was thought that the slope of the sloping sides had been made too flat and in order to alter this without again lowering the shoulders or increasing the height of the top, which had been agreed was sufficiently high, the width of the flat on the top of the radiator was slightly increased, 3/8" being added. The appearance of this final effort was then considered by Sales to be satisfactory and it was thought that the changes from the existing radiator were such as not to make them strikingly noticeable, while 2/3rds of the lift at the shoulder asked for by the coachbuilders had been obtained. The final dimensions of this radiator were as set out in my CWB18/GM24127 to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} now has the actual model to these dimensions. It is interesting that R.{Sir Henry Royce} also in his R2/M6127, page 2, paragraph 3, suggests that a .25 reduction in the height of the water tank would be about right, which is Sales conclusion from the models they had made. As regards the size of the filler, we thought that this would probably bear some relation to the length of the flat on top of the radiator which in our proposal is increased by 3/8" and that therefore possibly a little more diameter would improve the appearance. As this is solely a matter of appearance and not one of utility, it should be an easy matter for all concerned to come to some agreement as to which type looks the best, as has been suggested in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/IG13127 and agreed in C7/C17127. We do not hold any particular brief for this proposal as the only solution, but as it was considered in every detail very carefully suggest that it may be considered, with any other proposed alternatives when the conference takes place.
