To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/M/23.10.31 Ammeters BY/Cgh.{W Clough}6/G.20.10.31 - Ferranti Limited advise there is no objection, as far as they are concerned, in making our Ammeters in the inverted position, and state: "You will realise, of course, that the instruments "themselves would not be altered in any way but the "dials would have to be altered to have the figures and "other markings the other way round. Normally "the primary terminal is on the lefthand side looking "at the front of the instrument as shown in the attached "sketch No.JT.70. When used in the "inverted position the positive terminal would appear "at the righthand side looking at the front and near to "the bottom of the instrument." Will BY please pass the Blue Print enclosed on to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, as this is the only copy they have sent. Meantime we are not moving in the matter pending further advice.
