COPY OF LETTER. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. 29th April 1929. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letter of 26th inst. ref: Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Ms4/P26429, with regard to the Special Graves Type 12 v.{VIENNA} 60 w. 48 w. Bulbs, and while these are not on the market in the strict sense of the word, we can obtain some more samples for you should you require them. You will appreciate that as we have only made three pairs of lamps in which these bulbs can be used, all of which have been supplied to you for experimental purposes, we do not expect there will be any prolonged demand for this type. As you no doubt know, we have heard from West WitteringHenry Royce's home town that they do not consider our P.100 headlamps employing this double filament bulb arrangement to be the most desirable combination. We are therefore at the present time making them up a special auxiliary lamp which will be placed between two of our standard P.100's, and a change-over foot switch is being designed by which the main headlamps can be switched out and the auxiliary lamp illuminated. This lamp will have a special reflector which will dip the beam on to the nearside of the road. In view of your remarks we wait your further instructions with regard to a further supply of the bulbs in question. Yours faithfully, JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED. | ||
