JUNIOR RATIONALISED CARS.

We have now completed designs for the Myth chassis. We have made it with a conventional frame, though this may add 1 cwt. to the finished weight of the complete car, because we know that by so doing we can insulate the body with rubber and so reduce the noise level.

The noise problem, owing to the power weight ratio, and the price at which the car will have to be produced, will be greater than any with which we have hitherto had to contend.

(a) Bodies.

A separate frame will facilitate the manu-facture of coupés and other specialised types by independent coachbuilders. We shall have our hands full getting into pro-duction with the saloon.

The original accommodation specified was that of the Rover 10 h.p. saloon; this has been adhered to and in addition, a folding down luggage grid and a boot with considerably more space than that available in the Rover, has been provided. A full-size model of this boot and a quarter scale model of the car, are available for inspection.

The rear passengers' leg-room is actually greater than on the B.V. Really, for four people, this Myth body should provide no less comfort than the B.V. standardised saloon.

Being so commodious, the Myth will weigh appreciably more than cars like the Vauxhall, though less than the Rover 10. Our estimated curb weight is 22 cwt. which is, perhaps, somewhat optimistic.

Two versions of the Myth body are being drawn, one 4-light and 6-light, both to be made as far as possible with the same set of tools. Mr. Green has already handed to Mr. Ward some preliminary information and the finished body drawing, which is, of course, far more detailed than anything a coachbuilder would make, should be completed in about six weeks.
