In motor bodies where the dashboard proper is usually affixed to the chassis for the carrying of gauges and other fittings connected therewith, it is found that the springing movement which takes place in the frame of the chassis gives a horizontal movement to the top of the dashboard, with the result that in cases where the bodywork is rigidly coupled to the said dashboard, difficulty and trouble is experienced with the wear of the doors, directly or indirectly coupled to the dashboard through the body. It is proposed to connect the bodywork to the dashboard by means of a strip of leather or other flexible material marked "C" in the sketch herewith, which gives as an example the enclosed type of dashboard fitted up to a permanent chassis dashboard. The strip of leather would be attached to the dashboard proper "A", and, by means of the said strip of leather, any movement taking place in the permanent dashboard "E" would be transmitted to the enclosed dashboard or the bodywork "A" owing to the flexibility of the material coupling the two together. | ||
