SIDE STEERING TUBE. N.SCH.2258.

Referring to the standardization sheet which has been issued, dated 9.2.27, X.No.480, covering the above N.Scheme, we find that we can use this scheme on the assumption that we get half-bump only at full lock.

This scheme can be used on changeovers and for E.2. Series providing Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} agrees to it being brought, in, the point at issue of course being, we have made new tools for producing the parts for C.2. and D.2. The job has of course been costed up on the basis of the earlier scheme, allowing .2 movement on each side of the ball, but if it is considered of very great importance that this scheme should be brought in on changeovers in place of the scheme at present being used for C.2. and D.2, then I will have to hold up the Repair Dept. for the moment and obtain permission from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} to bring in the new scheme at E.2. Personally, it does not appear to me that we should be justified in making scrap of D.2. Series to incorporate the new proposal.
