G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Farmer - Check No. 2453.
HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/MJ.30-1-34.
We have noted your memo. and have reported the accident to the Factory Inspector.
Kindly note for future reference that accidents in the Factory are notifiable in three days.
For the purpose of considering compensation please say whether Farmer is a Manual Labourer. To decide this point it is necessary to consider his really substantial business. If a person earns his money through confidence, skill or practical scientific knowledge rather than from the manual work which he performs he is not a workman under the Compensation Act if his wages exceed £350. per annum.
