C O P Y. Hm. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} CHASSIS NO.51-S-4. C.J. CAULFIELD ESQ. Referring to the dynamo on the above customer's car, of which he makes complaint that the control brush wears away at a rapid rate, in fact, it is quite abnormal, - it is very desirable that we should obtain the dynamo in question back from the customer, and that same should be handed over to me without anything being done to it. We are not doubting the customer's statement. We are accepting the facts as they stand described. We are anxious, however, to discover just why the third brush shows this particular fault. Peculiarities of this kind are particularly helpful to us in design and production when we can find out precisely the cause of the trouble. If you would make the necessary arrangements to replace the customer's dynamo and send his original in to this Department, explaining to the customer our reason for making the change, we can then take the matter up from this end and try to obtain some advantage from the peculiarity which this particular dynamo exhibits.
