1245 Levallois Sr/VA2/ET.I5.6.38. To Bentley Motors Ltd. Derby.............Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Copy to By D/BP. Re: LARGE CAPACITY OIL PUMPS FOR 3 1/2 LITRE BENTLEY CHASSIS With reference to Sr.'s conversation with you on the telephone concerning the advisability of fitting the above type of pump to 3 1/2 litre chassis, we attach our Official Order N° 2269, for 6 L.C. pumps complete with oil pipes to suit, etc... If 6 cannot be supplied from stock at once, we suggest that they should be sent in batches of 2 or 3 by return and by air mail. Concerning chassis B.I74.EF, Mme Rueff, on which the engine is unfortunately wrecked due to the failure of N°5 connecting rod, we will give you full details as soon as we are in possession of the car. As far as we can tell at present, the owner or her representative has sent the car to an outside workshop for repairs. Sr. is at present trying to get into touch with Mme Rueff. The engine is certainly in a mess and must, we think, have been driven at speed for a fairly long distance after the failure of N°5 connecting rod bearing. Although N°5 connecting rod is twisted and hammered almost out of shape, the bolts have not failed. We attach a copy of our Order N° 2269 to D/BP.'s copy of this memo. Sr/VA. | ||
