This pipe running from the main petrol supply tank— into both lead supply tank and this one from the induction pipe No. 2. The intake strokes of the motor create a vacuum in the upper chamber and this vacuum draws petrol from the supply tank. As the petrol flows into the upper chamber it raises— this upper chamber which is fitted into a larger or lower chamber. No. 3. which, reaching a certain height, automatically shuts off the vacuum valve and opens an atmospheric valve which lets the petrol flow into— this float valve is shown here half raised. No. 4. so that the petrol flows to— this lower chamber The float valve in the upper chamber drops with the petrol flowing out, and when it reaches a certain point it in turn re-opens the vacuum valve, and the process of refilling the upper chamber begins again. The same processes are repeated continuously and absolutely automatically. The lower chamber is always open to the atmosphere.
