November 1924. Messrs James Young & Co. Ltd. Coachbuilders 37 London Road. BROMLEY. Dear Sirs, 5.G.11. - BEATON ALL WEATHER. X3730 / Y4219 This car has just left for Derby and prior to its departure we have made a final examination of the coachwork. We notice the following points:- (1) Head lining is torn, mouldy, and dirty. (2) The lamp glass and bulb of the lamp in the back of the front seat need replacing. (3) The head leather is torn in two places and requires new fasteners. (4) Front near side light rattles when 'up'. (5) Door dove tails need attention. (6) Off side front door rubs against shut pillar. (7) Wings need painting and varnishing. The body needs rubbing down and varnishing. As previously stated we expect the car to arrive at your Works on Dec. 1. and we would be glad if you could put as much of this right as possible during the week. If you will make an examination of the car immediately on its arrival, as suggested in our previous letter, and telephone us on Tuesday morning next at about 10.30 a.m. we can agree to any further work that you may think necessary. The car has to the best of our knowledge covered about 20,000 miles, and we consider that the body is remarkably free from rattles, and has survived its bad usage extremely well. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. [STAMPED TEXT: RECEIVED 4 DEC 1924 HB{C. E. Harcombe} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} YOA & CO.] | ||
