R.R. TYPE MARLES WELLER STEERING.

We have produced a steering to E's. design. This is a very much more expensive design than the Marles Weller. It has taken a considerable time to produce, and from the results we have obtained on the rig we are certain this particular steering is not worth fitting to a car. We know that it will be much too heavy for parking conditions and there will be very little self centring.

We suggest that we do not spend any more money in attempting to make a Marles Weller steering.

This still leaves us with the problem that we consider the R.R. steering, especially on the big car, is the worst feature on the car and even on the small cars the general impression is that many of the cheap cars have better steerings.

We are still considering whether we can fit the Marles Weller steering to the Bentley car. This will give us a satisfactory steering at very much reduced cost.

We should recommend that we change over the Marles Weller steering off 58-GN. to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s. new car so that we can continue to get experience with this type of steering on Phantom ll.
