X7430 X7410 (crossed out) X7770 We are sending you within the next day or two a spring damped pendulum lever, and in this new specimen we have been able to embody laminated springs with their natural damping friction. There is also additional damping friction so that any movement of the road wheels which is not communicated to the steering column is damped in the connection between the two, and I feel sure that this will be found, when we get it right, to be a useful addition to the features already embodied. You will remember that it was decided to make 3 of these chassis also, and that you have the designs of the back end, petrol tank, and all the rear fittings already in hand, and that you have the greater part of the engine, and we hope to send you this week the new design for the present carburetter, of the induction pipes, and governor gear, which we believe should complete the engine with the exception of finishing up the controls. We are hoping that the improvements embodied in this move will make such definite improvements in appearance, riding qualities, performance, and steering, that I beg of you to move the work quickly before it is too late.
