NEW HANTOM INSTRUCTION BOOK. x8782

As a result of your request, we have looked through the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I Instruction Book, as compared with the latest 20 HP. Instruction Book, and suggest the following:-

On p.43, under "5000 miles or half yearly" we suggest adding to the end of para. re gearbox -
"A few drops of engine oil should be injected in the lubricator on the casing of the starter motor jaw clutch actuator".

P.50. We suggest that the sentence "Be certain particularly that the emergency fuse is in order" should be in heavier type, as in the 20 HP. case.

P.53. Starter Motor Brushes. This also applies to dynamo brushes, p.48. Spare brushes are not now supplied and these paragraphs should therefore be modified accordingly, possibly saying that application should be made to R.R.Ltd. for new brushes.

On p.54 under the heading "Electrically Operated Main Switch and Jaw Clutch Actuator", there might be added "A lubricator -- is arranged on the casing of the jaw clutch actuator and a few drops of engine oil should be injected every 5,000 miles or half yearly, as directed on p.43." Reference to this lubricator should be made on Fig.10, by an additional letter.

P.56. We suggest that the sentence "At the same time the main switch may be operated without the jaw clutch actuator, when the starter motor will race without coming into gear" should be deleted, as this does not appear to take place.

P.57. We suggest that the first complete paragraph on p.43 of the 20 HP. Book should be incorporated in the battery ignition matter on p.57 of the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I Book.

P.63. Under the para. "Battery Connections" we suggest that the following should be deleted:-
"Also in replacing connections to the terminal box on the side of the battery box",
because on the Phantom there is no terminal box.
