8413 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Kingsbury, Dec. 4th, 1936. Bentley Cylinder Blocks. We have despatched today the ground cylinder block for your inspection. Case. No.66. The following may be of interest to you. The other cylinder block that has been ground out has been fitted to Chassis B-86-GA. An oil consumption test was taken before dismantling the engine. It came out at 600 M.P.H. for 100 miles run. A similar test was runn with the new block and new pistons, .010" oversize. The oil consumption came out at 1600 M.P.G. I might say that no Bentley at the Works can produce this result first run out. The engine is definitely smoother than it was. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/G.W.Hancock. | ||
