X4241 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Hsl/LG15.9.22. We consider that we ought to treat the angle iron used for the bonnet rest on Goshawk-11 chassis so that it does not rust. Also there are some mild steel brackets which come on the bonnet at the base of the dashboard which could be similarly treated. We think, if these parts will sheradise, it would make as good a protection against rust as anything we know of. We suggest, that until this can be done, the parts should be enamelled. It looks very bad at present to lift the bonnet of a new chassis and find these parts starting to rust. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
