To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Copy to Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} EFC. X 3569 Dal6/CB30.6.20. X.3923. RE CAR 6.EX. With reference to some of the points on this car referred to in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG28.6.20, we should like to make the following remarks:- 9. Coil with Square base fixed to Distributor Arm. X.3713c. This coil is not a modern one as it was not possible to get it in time, but is one of the original aero coils, which we thought might be used to demonstrate the new position of base. 16. X.3888. We regret that we have not been able to submit to you schemes for the reserve arrangement or the proposed level indicator on the petrol tank. This job has been somewhat stopped by the Motor Boat and other things, and we have only recently got going again on it. We hope we shall send you a number of suggestions for both these things immediately after the holidays. 20. Earthed Wiring. X.3569. The bends of this system are not split and in some other respects the system is not what we should like to suggest as the final system. The parts of the latest suggestion with split bends are getting on quickly, and we hope to have them on the next car. 24. Luggage Grid. X.3507. This luggage grid was made by the Coachbuilders and is not our design, but we thought that it was a good opportunity for testing the scheme whereby coachbuilders fit their own luggage grids to the brackets which we provide, fastened to the frame. It does not appear to have worked out badly in this case. 25. Spare wheel Carrier. X.3747a. We have not been able to tackle the spare wheel carrier that it is proposed to recommend as standard and the carrier on 6.EX is a temporary arrangement because of the shortness of the time. We hope to have this new carrier ready to submit to you shortly after the holidays. | ||
