A noise is consistently experienced from the tappets when warming up. It occurs between 3 and 10 miles after starting from cold and appears to persistently occur at No.12 tappet. The only way in which we can overcome it is to reduce the cold clearance of the tappet to a minimum. The noise is also apparent on chassis 22-EX though in this case it does not appear to be any particular tappet. Incidentally, the removal of a tappet is a big job and requires the dismantling of the whole engine. We think that perhaps a slight alteration would overcome this difficulty. | ||
