1030 700 To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/ET.23.11.40. PROGRAMME OF DESIGN WORK. ------------------------- As we have already pointed out, we wish to keep the Myth work going and at the same time tackle this tank project with the utmost energy. As we clarify our views on exactly what we are going to do on the tank job, the staff we can employ will increase and the accommodation they require will also increase. In the circumstances, it will not be possible to accommodate all the design staff at Park Leys. We should like you to consider transferring Draper, Bastow, Peak, Swinden and Burkinshaw to the Clan, where they can work as a design section in the office at present used for viewing full size body projects. Whilst at the Clan, they will be able to co-operate with Bastow and Cantrill and with the members of Hunt's staff who are doing minor projects. This will leave you with enough room at Park Leys to handle the gun and tank installation project adequately, and also to cater for other members of the Leyland Design Staff, which we expect to bring in at a later date. Moving members of the Design Section to Clan does not preclude their being called in to work on the tank project at a later date, if we find we require more horse power when we know exactly what we are going to do. With regard to overtime, if we are to make the required progress, I am afraid that the Section Leaders will have to put in some overtime and possibly come in on Sunday mornings. I suggest that two nights a week might be regarded as regular overtime nights. I know that everyone will do what they can to justify the co-operation we are receiving from Leyland and the Mechanisation Board. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
