X790 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from B.J. URGENT. BJ12/H25.7.22. ENGINE COMPRESSION. X790 I am seeing C.J. to-morrow (Thursday) afternoon, on his return from abroad, to discuss a number of points, before I start for my holidays. Can you please, therefore, let me know what will be the difference between following the suggestion made in H2/M25.7.22. of reducing the high compression by 5%, as compared with the present medium compression. Please say what is the present compression of a high compression and a low compression engine. Please quote: (1) The compression of high compression less 5%. [handwritten: again] (2) The actual medium compression. Also please quote what percentage reduction would be effected if a high compression engine were reduced to medium compression, so that we may ascertain what a reduction of 5% in high compression engine means, in percentage, as compared with reducing the high compression to medium compression.
