Jacking lever and pawl mechanism with accompanying sketches.

- 2 - E.4/HP.4.4.34. could be caused to rest upon the ground and be held there by one foot, the other end forming the lever which would be reciprocated by hand as shown in the sketches. With regard to the pawl mechanism which has to be operated when it is desired to lower the car, this could be worked by using the jacking lever and rods as a fishing rod to move the pawl over or by actually changing over the lever mechanism to another square, or by even having another rod up the centre of one of the existing rods for operating the pawl. The operating mechanism would of course have to be made to fold up which could be done by any of the well known methods of hinging the rods and locking them in the middle.
