Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} REPORT ON 8-EX LIMOUSINE BODY MOUNTED ON SUBFRAME. Barker Limousine after 14,000 miles test in France. The condition of the body generally is very good. The doors and windows have remained in good condition, hinges of same show little wear. There have been slight rattles develop from the doors and windows. The scuttle has remained firm and no cracks have developed at the corners. The continuous side movement of the scuttle has may chafed the corners of the dashboard away and also opened out the beading. We are of the opinion that the present type of windscreen fitted on this car is very poor as regards keeping out the wet. In heavy rain it blows up through the joints and obscures the vision, also it runs down the instrument board and drops on to the drive and passenger. Water also comes through the joint between the scuttle and dashboard, and in heavy rain is very bad. The instrument board fixing on this car was very poor (wood screws from the top) and in a short time become loose, being held in position only by the oil pipe connections etc. The front and rear wings withstood the continuous shocks very well and we had no occasion to resort to patching up which is the usual case. contd :- | ||
