If the thread in the valve head is a good fit on the spindle it is difficult to tin these parts before assembly as it is essential that the valve head should be free on the spindle for adjustment purposes. The locking of the valve head of the thermostat which failed was actually tested in the manner you describe, and apparently there was sufficient solder still to hold it when the thermostat left us to prevent easy rotation of the valve head. This method of testing, therefore, does not appear to be practicable. We think that the best thing to do will be to tin the inside of the ball valve pressing, and to make the soldered joint which secures the valve head in the usual manner. Then, when the ball valve casing is soldered to the valve head nut finally, providing that the thermostat is left vertical until the solder is cooled, a good joint should be made internally between the spindle, the valve head, and the casing. We will arrange for this to be done. We regret that we failed to answer Handwritten right side: Writen PM/500 | ||
