PROVISIONAL SPECIFICATION FOR INCLUSION
ON B.III LOP.

Crankcase and Bearings.

Inclusion of Vandervell bearings in accordance with their arrangement L.1076.

This should incorporate the modification at the rear end to enable an increase in the length of the oil retaining thread on the crank as requested in our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}7/MH.{M. Huckerby}16.9.38.

Crankcase in other respects as up-to-date Wraith, incorporating tachometer drive.

Crankshaft LOP.EB.3656.

As above but crankshaft in .4 carbon steel including slight mod. to oil retaining thread in accordance with Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}

Heat treatment of crank as specified for .4 carbon crank in 15,000 miles unit.

Spring Drive.

Up-to-date Wraith but with spring plate heat treated and not left in soft state.

Connecting Rod.

Forged to size rods, that is, no machining except where necessary for fitment of big end and little end bushes.

Connecting rods otherwise as up-to-date Wraith but with oil jet hole.

It will be necessary to sink dies for the rods as forged to size rods on the 15,000 miles unit are obsolete and have thick section bearings.
