Tyre noise investigations on a Phantom III car, involving tests on iron drums and collaboration with Dunlop.

We are carrying on with our investigations with the rear wheels of a Ph.III car being driven on 2 large cast irons drums, as these conditions bring up the noise even more than London streets. Also the Dunlop Rubber Co., whose representatives, Messrs. Price and Law, were with us during our week-end tests in London, are experimenting with tyre tread patterns to reduce noise. As our tests in London shew a distinct variation of the density of tyre noise on different cars, the brown car (34-EX or 35-EX) being much worse than either 30-EX or 33-EX, if it is at all possible, we should like to have this car at Derby.
