x15 CJ10/D24 1012. 24th October 1912. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Egan, Esq., The Dunlop Rubber Co. Ld. Aston Cross, Birmingham. Dear Mr Egan, You asked me how we had got on with your detachable wheels. The driver of my car reports - "The hubs on these wheels seem to require more attention after a wheel has been shifted and can be tightened up bit by bit after running, until a certain point is reached, when they remain O.K. This I take to be on account of the stretching of the thread on the hub itself, and inequality in the corrugation of the driving part of the hub shell." "In all other respects the wheels seem to be quite equal to the Rudge-Whitworth, i.e. spokes etc." But I have another driver with it now and I am trying to obtain his opinion. Mr Royce suggests that your detachable wheels ought to be fitted on one of our heavy cars. Do you feel inclined to send us a set of wheels for this purpose? We would return them to you after the car had been run some distance. Yours sincerely, | ||
