Cadillac Tappets for Bentley.

Features to be used in design :-

(1) Cyl. head EB.615 modified for two rocker shafts and plunger casing seatings - see Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1629.

(2) Lengthened (approx. .200") and lightened valves and push rods.

(3) Valve springs to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1607.

(4) Plunger casings with latest metering plug oil feed (see Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1629) and dust covers - the latter to have no lip on them to avoid raising overall height of rocker shaft.

(5) Plungers of similar external dimensions to J-III, but being of latest Phantom design (E.85559/60) using poppet valves. Clearance in plunger casing to be .001".

(6) Plunger springs similar to latest Phantom, using J-III strengths.

(7) Pedestals similar to J-III but reduced in width (see Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1629).

(8) Rocker shafts of J-III dimensions in SZN hardened and copper deposited as Phantom.

(9) Eccentrics of similar dimensions to J-III, in cast iron, design as latest Phantom except that eccentric arms are to be approx. .200" thick.

(10) Floating bushes, similar dimensions to J-III, oiling scheme as latest Phantom - Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1471.

(11) Rockers - as J-III except for alterations necessary to suit Bentley valve and push rod arrangement - oil feed to valve tips as Phantom.

Oil Supply :- We shall require a second stage oil pressure supply and a separate filter for rocker oil. These requirements are catered for by a scheme designed by E's Dept. for Halford tappets, but not yet issued - LeC.4062.
