The Daimler box has since been re-designed, and we believe, from the parts which were seen, must be as below -

The writer was given the impression that the Daimler people consider the plain bearing 2nd. motion shaft to be infinitely superior to one of ball bearing type, although their 1st. motion shaft scheme seems unmechanical to us.

On the Lanchester 21, the reverse is in principle similar to our India, but is arranged to run in plain bearings, and is as shown thus -
