Re Chassis 2301.

I am very sorry that the car which took you to Toulon last Saturday was not working very nicely.

I took it out on Sunday and found the carburation too rich on the slow speeds jet - the magneto also works badly with full advance at high speeds.

There were some little changes about the valve gear, in Swetnams time, of which I was not aware, which we are now correcting - see other sheet.

I did not intend that he should continue to use a dry clutch - it was only suggested to be tried if it made any difference in changing speed.

I have regulated the carburetter jets exactly so that they both run off weak together. Hurst now tells me that he is doing the marketing work at 17 miles per gallon - which is good for this low geared car.

It seems fatal for economy to regulate the low speed relatively stronger than the high speed as I find that so many of even our own people are fond of doing. Fortunately the wear of the carburetter adjustment goes the opposite way.

This particular car shews wonderful improvement by using both ignitions with weak mixtures.
