Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 4300 Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}19/T20.9.35. 33-BX. During the time this car was in the hands of Sales, the mileage was 744 - this included the journey to and from Derby. We arranged to make a special check during this run, of the petrol and oil consumption. The petrol consumption for the total trip averaged 9.3 miles per gallon. During the fairly fast run in the early morning from London to the South Coast the consumption was 7.5 miles per gallon. The oil consumption worked out at 1450 miles per gallon. This is surprisingly good, and is due we consider, to the fitting of white metal connecting rod bearings, fully split pistons, with slotted scraper rings, and modification to cylinder head to improve oil drainage. | ||
