CONTINUATION JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED PAGE 2 DATE 29th Jan 1935 Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd, DERBY. -------------------------- the glass. This is being incorporated in the modified sample wiper we hope to be sending you in the very near future, and we shall very much appreciate your comments on its performance at really high speed in driving rain. The increase in power necessary with the increase in pressure of the wiping blade is quite appreciable on a dry screen, but of course, nothing like so much on a wet screen, and our present motor has ample margin. The wiping blades which we shall fit on our new sample will be of the improved type, such that they will readily turn over at the end of each stroke. We think this is a decided improvement, and shall welcome your criticism. The most important modification we have made to this wiper, as a result of the sample which you were good enough to try out on your Continental tour, is really the alterations necessary to make it water-tight. We have subjected models to a 300 lbs. pressure water stream at a distance of 2-3 ft. and believe we have been successful. We hope to send you this sample embodying the above modifications towards the middle of next week. Yours faithfully, JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT. [Handwritten signature] | ||
