Bentley / Mr Barrington} With reference to your Cxl/KW6.4.39. and Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}9/KW17.4.39. We received this car from the Experimental Dept. just prior to closing down for the Easter Holidays, but owing to a certain amount of reconstruction work in the Dept. have only just completed our tests on the car. The total mileage the car has travelled is approximately 60,000 and although several of the non-important features are of the earlier type, we consider that on completion of the repairs now necessary the chassis will conform to an "L" Series car. This car is also fitted with 6.50 x 17 tyres. We estimate that the repairs and renewals, and replacement of non-standard parts will cost approximately £125:0:0: and we give below the necessary details:- Complete dismantling of the engine unit and supplying and fitting of such new parts as are now necessary. N.B. The Experimental Department are interested in the wear which has taken place in this engine, and as soon as it is dismantled we are arranging that they send someone over to have a look at it. Rewire front of chassis as necessary. Clean and adjust dynamo and supply and fit new bearings and brushes as required. Clean and adjust starter motor and supply and fit new bearings and brushes as required. Supply and fit new petrol pump. Test coil, condenser and ballast resistance, and if necessary supply and fit new winding to coil. Supply and fit new pins, bushes and trunnions as required to propeller shaft. - contd - | ||
