- 3 - SPECTRECodename for Phantom III (contd) to produce one more chassis, making a total of 9, and during the Conference he said that this could be done and that we could have the ninth chassis. Jacks The D.W.S. hydraulic scheme was described by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and it is hoped that a scheme of this sort can be ready in time, and that we shall not have to accept any form of screw jack on SpectreCodename for Phantom III. Petrol Tank. The consumption of SpectreCodename for Phantom III in France is reported to be 8 m.p.g. It was pointed out that a 28-gallon tank would rather limit its range, and it was therefore to be considered whether the tank should not have a capacity up to 32-gallons. BENTLEY B-B-IV Memo HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RMID/KW14.6.35, was gone through by Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} relative to the clearing up of 7 items for which standardisation sheets have been circulated but not previously cleared by tests in France. In re one of these -Isolated Gear Lever - the importance of this was stressed and every endeavour is to be made to introduce it at the earliest possible moment. One of the causes of delay was the gas tightness of this arrangement, but it was agreed that that was not sufficiently important to hold the job up. The memo above quoted also dealt with 14 items for which standardisation sheets have been started, and no objection was raised to any except - (1) Stellited Valves and Magnesium Gearbox It was agreed that 6 sample sets of each of these should be made to get more experience on cars under Company's control. (2) Textolite Gears. It was agreed that 12 sets of these should be made in order to gain experience. (3) Low Geared Axle This is to be regarded as special and only for use in special cases. | ||
