-2- Contd. Since all cells have been subject to identical treatment the battery affords two principal comparisons :- (A) That as between 9 thin and 7 thick plates. (B) That as between wood and ebonite separators on the one hand, and wood separators only on the other. (A) is subdivided into :- with (a) A comparison c/wood separators only. (b) A comparison with wood and ebonite separators. (B) is subdivided into :- (c) Wood separators only and wood and ebonite separators with thin plates. (d) Wood separators only and wood and ebonite separators with thick plates. The details of the comparisons are as follows :- (Aa{D. Abbot-Anderson}) (Cells 2 & 5). Little difference in the amount of shedding of the paste was noticeable, the depth of sediment being approx. 3/8" and possibly very slightly more in the 7-plate case. Referring to the positive plates generally, the 9-plate section positives were generally in better condition than those of the 7-plate section. Buckling of positive plates was very noticeable in both sections. As regards the negative plates, these were in good condition, showing no difference between the two sections. Pellets have shrunk and cracked away from the pockets but are still intact. Contd. | ||
