OFFICIAL OPENING OF DERBY AIRPORT.
17th June, 1939.

A very interesting offer has been made to us by the Organisers of the above Display, whereby the following advantages are open to all ROLLS-ROYCE Employees who are desirous of attending.

A special ROLLS-ROYCE enclosure will be prepared, incorporating Car Park, Marquees with Buffet, full licence, and refreshments at moderate prices. This enclosure will be the equivalent of the public THREE SHILLING enclosure, but the prices will be:-

EMPLOYEES. ................... ONE SHILLING.
WIVES. ......................... FREE.
CHILDREN (Accompanied by Adults).. .. SIXPENCE.
CAR PARK (Instead of 2/6). ...... SIXPENCE.

This Civil Air Pageant will be the most comprehensive and interesting that has ever been staged in the Country, and it is hoped that as many Employees as possible will attend, for apart from a most interesting sight, it is largely on account of their own work that the Display is possible.

It must be understood that this special enclosure, and the reduction in prices, will only be available if numbers merit it.

Transportation by Buses will be arranged for.

The following are some of the main features of the Display.

The latest 350 m.p.h. Fighters and High Speed Bombers.
A Squadron of "SKUA" dive Bombers.
Demonstrations of Aircraft Carrier Deck Landings.
A new giant Atlantic Flying Boat, to be operated this summer between England and America.
The "MAYO" composite Seaplane, which will separate above the spectators.
A new AUTOGIRO, which leaps 30 feet vertically, from a standing start.
The latest Airliners, including De Havilland "FLAMINGO",
(20 seater - 240 m.p.h.)
The new "FLYING WING" Airliner, with passenger accommodation in the wings.
Foreign Airliners have been invited to attend.
A Grand Display, about 5.30 p.m. showing an air attack which incorporates Bombers, Fighters, Balloon Barrage, A.R.P. and Auxiliary Fire Brigade services.

Altogether, some 200 Aircraft are expected to take part.

Loud speakers will enable spectators to hear the running commentary relating to the various events, also speeches by the Minister for Air, the Rt. Hon. Sir Kingsley Wood, the Mayor and the Chairman of the Airport Committee.

LISTS MUST BE CLOSED BY THE 31st. MAY.

17th April, 1939.
