X4645 19th July 192. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Fowler Clark, Esq., Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. With regard to the sealing of the glass tube of the liquid resistance utility instrument, we have used two methods and are not quite sure which one you have. One is to seal the brass end to the glass with Bakelite varnish, which is insoluble in alcohol after stoving. The other is to fix with a rubber ring compressed by a gland nut. This is a very convenient method, though the rubber gradually perishes and requires renewal. With regard to the strength of the alcohol mixture, we make this by trial to give the resistance required calibrating by 500 volt megger. ------------- | ||
