-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KW.7.11.34. I suggest that the snow which put the coil out of action came in through the radiator. If I am wrong in my surmise and the conditions were not exceptional I should like to know, because we have enough in hand on the cooling of the car to do away with a certain amount of undersheet ventilation. With regard to your brakes failing due to slush entering the drum, I experienced exactly this condition. We have been trying to find a device to keep the water out of the drum ever since but so far have only been moderately successful. However, I am about to send a car out to the Continent to chase up bad conditions and see how much progress we have made with our modifications. The trouble is accentuated by the fact that any lining we have so far been able to discover which has a long life and is free from squeaks loses its coefficient of friction when wet. With regard to adjusting the shock absorbers, I suggest that when you bering the car to the Works you tell them what shock absorber setting you want and let them alter them for you. This they will gladly do. If you want to alter them yourself, the Repair Dept. here would be glad to show you how to do it. Barnes is still working for us and is giving satisfaction.
