1243 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}12/JH. 5th April, 1938. Messrs. Briggs Bodies Ltd., Dagenham, ESSEX. For the attention of C.W. Cockrane Esq. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter and revised print of the petrol tank we submitted to you. We note you intend using .037 Tem plate this will increase the weight of the tank approximately 70% Is this the thinest sheet you use? Certainly with this gauge material the end plates and baffles should be sufficiently rigid and a stone guard is unnecessary. We should like you to verify the overall length of the tank which we have taken to be 32 . 25 that is allowing .500" beyond each end plate. This length is all right but we are rather tied for room and cannot go much beyond this. We would like you to make a sample tank to this drawing and we will supply the fittings you may require. We will also be pleased to have you quote for this tank in quantities of say 200, 500 and 1,000. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
