Equipment for Gear Box Test Rig

Attached hereto is an estimate for the equipment required in connection with the gear box test rig as shown on sketch RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}39 also attached.

The scheme has been submitted to Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and before any further action can be taken, we shall be pleased if you will let us have a statement enumerating the advantages to be gained by the installation of this rig. In short, it will be necessary for an application to be made to the Board for permission to spend the amount stated in the estimate.

We shall be pleased therefore if you will furnish the following information.

(a) Why this rig is necessary.

(b) What advantages will be obtained by the installation of the rig.

(c) What financial benefits if any, will be obtained by the installation of the rig.

On receipt of the above information, we will arrange to make an application for a grant for the expenditure involved, if Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} approves.
