Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} WATER OVERHEATING. 4766 The following is an extract from a report of the running of 9-G-lll car in France :- "On yesterday's run the water boiled for approximately five hours. Fan belt O.K. No wind. Water lost half a gallon. Air temperature 34°C. Temperature in shade 28 - 30°C. We believe this was the hottest day we have had so far. The water boiled slightly on the morning's run, the afternoons' run being the chief offender". The point which we wish to emphasise is that this car was run for approximately 5 hrs. with the water boiling. In spite of this the total amount of water lost was only half a gallon. The fact that the water boiled caused no harm and there was no necessity to stop the car. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
