Swindell}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}18.4.39. PH.III No.8 UNIT (E.R.HALL). The parts mentioned in the memo HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/WSC.{W. S. Cassel}11/BA.18.4.39 for the completion of the electrical system should be supplied and mounted on a switch board. Also as stated, a new set of ignition wires should be fitted. The assembly specification of the engine otherwise should be as follows:- (1) Crack test the crankcase. (2) Machine in position if possible .125 off the base of the cylinder liners; at present it is necessary to remove the crankshaft to remove a piston, which difficulty will be overcome by the above modification. (3) Refit existing W/M main bearings. (4) Crack test the connecting rods and refit a set of standard AC.9 loose bushed big end bearings. (5) Crack test pistons, retain if O.K. (6) Measurement of cylinder bores for recording purposes. (7) Fit an up-to-date oil cooler. (8) Air silencer and carburetter to be supplied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H.
