Bentley Scraper Rings. With reference to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}4/JH.26.5.36, we recommend that we should at once order 50 sets of turned rings and put them through the Test Dept. in the ordinary way. If no trouble is experienced we should like to standardise them as soon as possible. For some reason, either due to improved cylinder finish or ring finish, we are delivering cars to customers to-day which start life with a very poor oil consumption which is really quite unnecessary. The turned finish is really nothing new, and Mr. Taub, the Chief Engineer of the Chevrolet Company, pointed out to us that we were out of date in this respect. The fact that we have run 100 hours on the test bed with such good results shows that these rings have a good life.
