RE WIND TUNNEL TESTS. BENTLEY.

I am attaching to this note a draft of the proposed tests to be carried out on the two models which are now almost completed.

Model I. is the Saloon 2.B.4. for which there are 8 sets of front wings, 3 different screen angles and two tails. I have suggested that all the possible permutations of these variables should be tried making 48 in all.

I feel that this is about as far as we can go with mathematical combination of the variables and have therefore suggested that the tests in Group 7&8. be carried out on the best combination of screen wing and tail determined by the tests in the previous groups.

Model "two" is lower than model I. by the removal of the sunshine roof and it has a tail equal to its height. By rights this should be tested with all the wings, screens etc. of model I. but here again I suggest that we should use on it its own slipper wings and then the best front wings of model I.

Model 3,has yet to be made. It is like the final model tested in the tests reported in the S.A.E. Journal, and also like "E" Proposal. As a matter of fact Model 2, as tested in group II will approximate very closely to this model

Even with this curtailment of the theoretically correct programme we have got more than we shall be able to pay Vickers to do. When we meet them on Monday we shall have to see how we can curtail the programme.
